Fonts

this is the font i have picked to use in for my brand logo i think it fits with the genre of music i am going and i think it will catch the readers eye. I think i will keep the font this colour.

This is the font i am using for the headings of my magazine i think it fits in with the logo font very well and is related with the genre of music i am doing which is rock.

this is the font i have picked for my main body of text i think it is easy to read but still keeps with the style i am trying to get with the genre of music in my magazine.

Main Flash
i think they have given the magazine this mast head because it is the name of the band in the picture and they are a popular band so it will grab peoples attention. The writing it sans serif and bold to help get the attention of the reader.

Colour

very dark background which shows it is aimed more at men and simple colours. But the NME logo is big a red to stand out and is at the top so when its on the rack it will catch peoples eye.
Image

The picture of the Arctic Monkeys who are a famous band and have the same target audience as the NME magazine. the image is big and takes up the whole page. The people are looking into the camera so it gives the impression of them looking at the audience.

Text

There is little text on the front cover to keep it simple and not give to much aways so they want to read more about the Arctic Monkeys.
Main flash

the mast head is the name of the band also is the logo of the band. the writing is serif.

Colour
the colours are very black and dull to fit in with the types of music this magazine has in it. the writing is all back and white which is different to the NME one which has a bit more colour on it this shows that Kerrang is more heavy and darker music than NME.
Image
the image is of the main person in the band and very dark and moody looking with smoke coming out of his mouth which gives the impression of him being a bad man. The black make up shows what type of music magazine this is and will attract the target audiences attention.

Main Flash

the main flash is the name of the band in the picture ' The Teenagers'. The writing is serif.

Colour

the main colour to this is blues which covers the font when something important is written which draws your attention to it.

Image

the main picture takes up one whole page and is a shot of the band. there are also small photos next to the text that of other bands that are popular and are being written about.

Text

the text layout is very normal with two columns on the main band and then the three other bands that are on the other side of the page have one little column.

Main Flash
the main flash is bold and san-serif and is in two different colours one showing the magazines name in red.
Colour
there is not loads of colour in this because most of it is writing. the main body of the text is back but the headings on the right are in white with a black which makes them stand out more just like the red writing for the band index. Also the adverts writing is yellow to draw your eye to it.
Image
there is a picture of Kasabian in the middle of the page because they are being mentioned. the picture is in the middle because it is the main information for this page.

Target Audience

According to NRS magazines in the same genre as mine like NME. Out of the 388,000 magazines sold, 339,000 of them where sold to people ages 15-44 and 296,000 where brought by men. But if we look at NME's media pack it shows that the average age for the buyer of the magazine is 24 and 69% of the buyers are men. According to NRS, Kerrang magazine out of the 417,000 sold 378,000 where sold to people aged 15-44 and out of the 417,000 sold 290,000 where sold to men. After emailing bauer music who are the publishers of kerrang magazine they said that the average age of person who buys kerrang magazine is 22 and 73% of the buyers in the last 6 months have been men.So after getting all the information i think that my target audience are people aged 15-26 and mainly aimed at men.

i think this magazine is successful and i think i did well but i think i could of stuck to my flat plan a bit more with the format of the writing. i am pleased with the picture and like the angle of the shot but i think it would of gone better with the original flat plan format of the writing.
i didn't use the second picture because the person is pulling a face. Where as on the first picture he is pulling a normal face. i chose to take the picture in a class room because that would appeal to students more as its where they are most of the time.

i used the name student because the magazine is for students and i think that it would catch your eye if u was a student. i used the layout i did because i think it quit fun and not boring to look at.
